Torii Hunter Gets Taste of Own Medicine

Here’s a story on twitter that should lighten your mood:

Torii Hunter has probably robbed more home runs then any other outfielder in recent history. In fact, he has officially robbed other players of 36 home runs and counting. Well, recently Hunter was on the other side of the fence when Adam Jones or the Baltimore Orioles robbed him of a home run.

After the Game, Hunter tweeted, “Ended my hitting streak thanks to Adam Jones. That was a great catch but same thing makes u laugh makes u cry. Gonna get u back for that.”

Jones responded with, ” man u robbed WAYYY more folks then I have. I’ve been robbed by Austin Jackson. It hurt.”

Both plays were spectacular and we are glad that athletes can actually have some fun on twitter. Unlike Lebron James, who always seems to try to cause a controversy, these two athletes have been good for the game and for entertainment on twitter. I can’t wait to see the conversation on twitter when Torii Hunter gets his revenge.

Lebron James and Twitter Drama

Lebron James, like 50 Cent, seems to love to create drama on twitter. In his recent tweets, James came to the defense of Tim Tebow after an ESPN commentator blasted Tebow for his athletic skills and performance on the football field.

Merrill Hodge criticized Tim Tebow for his accuracy and throwing fundementals. In one of his tweets he said the following,

” Sitting watching tape of Bronco offense from last year! Orton or Tebow? It’s embarrassing to think the broncos could win with tebow!!”

Lebron James immediately came to Tebow’s defense with a rebuttal on Twitter. He responded with a few tweets including the following,

“Listened to Merril Hoge today on [SportsCenter] and he was just blasting Tebow. The man hasn’t even play a full season and its only his 2nd year in.”

The next few hours should be interesting as both sides go back and forth at each other. Who would have thought something as fun as Twitter could create so much drama?

50 Cent Causes More Twitter Drama

50 Cent is causing quite the stir on twitter yet again. After his song, “I’m on it” was recently leaked this week, 50 Cent announced he was going to leak Dr. Dre’s new song. The threat was mainly directed at Interscope records because the record company was apparently responsible for the leak.

Although, 50 Cent said he was going to release Dre’s song today, no song was ever leaked. In fact, 50 Cent switched his tone up completely and said he would never release Dre’s songs because, “he done nothing but help my career.”

Go figure, 50 Cent causing more twitter drama. Thankfully, he did not leak Dre’s song and escalate an already tense situation. It would be nice it 50 Cent would go back to comedy like he did last winter when he tweeted about hustling rich folk for money after snowstorms.

Regardless, you know it is never going to be a dull day if you are following 50 Cent. There may not be one person more entertaining on twitter then him.

Another Twitter Rant from an Athlete

When will sports figures ever learn? Jose Enrique, a Newcastle United defender, has been find over $100,000 for his insults of his team on twitter. Even worse, he directed his rant directly at the team’s owner. Sure, he had a point with what he said but as an athlete you have to uphold yourself to certain standards.

This case brings up a buried point that needs to be entrenched in every single athletes’ mind. As an athlete, you are under public scrutiny constantly. Whatever an athlete or even a celebrity does can potentially cost somebody else thousands of millions of dollars.

Unfortunately, Enrique is going to take the same hit in his wallet that so many other athletes have had to endure. Twitter is a great way for athletes to connect with fans and with each other. However, until athletes understand that they should only be using twitter for that reason, we will probably still see more and more of these fines.
