Anger at Washington Leads Current Trends on Twitter

With the current debt ceiling problems lingering, the members of twitter have finally started showing their displeasure with those in Washington. Out all of the tweets in the last twenty-four hours, over ten percent include the hash tag #F***YouWashington.

While nothing will probably come of this chant, there is an underlying message that politicians need to hear. Americans are fed up and tired of the childish behavior of those in power. If a deal is not agreed to soon, then there will be a lot more frustration expressed on twitter.

Luckily, the power of twitter and other social networking sites is finally starting to be understood. Users of twitter can make or break someone’s reputation in an instant. While it is unlikely that twitter could cause a full fledged revolution, there is still a good possibility that twitter has some influence on the next presidential election.
